Residence time
For the calculation of the residence time the same conditions as for the calculation of the melting profile have to be fulfilled. In addition to this the injection time is required with PSI.
Realization of the theoretical principles
The screw is divided into at least 150 parts for the residence time calculation. Up to the point of melt pool formation (OSW), there is no difference between the calculation of the minimum residence time and that of the average residence time, since a block flow is assumed, here. From the point of melt pool formation (OSW) the residence time is calculated with allowance for the current density. When the residence time calculated equals the metering time calculated, the residence time and the injection time will be added. This procedure is continued until the screw tip is reached.
