A cavity mixing part is a mixing part with the aim of achieving good thermal and material homogeneity and, above all, rapid rinsing when changing materials or colours. The mixing part has grooves in the screw as well as in the barrel, as can be seen in the following pictures.

Cavity mixers can be used either as a separate stand-alone mixing element or as a segment on an extruder screw. The mixing element has a modular design consisting of several rings. There are rings with grooves and empty rings without grooves. The top picture shows a fully equipped cavity mixer without empty rings. The lower image has empty rings in the centre of the mixing element.
