It is possible to calculate „externally“ internally tempered screws in REX. „External“ means that an external temperature control unit flushes a cooling medium with a defined input temperature and flow rate through the screw core in order to temper it. This usually involves cooling, but heating can also be calculated.

The internal temperature control is defined via the dialogue for entering the screw and the Internal temperature control button.

In the window that opens, you can set in the drop-down list at the top whether the auger has no internal temperature control or has external internal temperature control.

The bore and the inner pipe as well as the thermal conductivity of the screw and the inner pipe must be specified under the Screw tab. For steel, 45 W/(m*K) is assumed here as standard.

The temperature control medium must be defined in the Cooling medium tab. You can choose between „Water“, „Oil“ (Regloplas RO 150) and a user-defined medium. In addition to the medium itself, the inlet temperature and the flow rate must also be specified at the bottom of the window.
