Screw sections
The following paragraphs serve for the specification of the geometrical values, which are needed in the input mask.
Fields in grey cannot be edited because they depend on other values and are determined by REX/PSI (e.g. channel width) or are determined by the input in previous screw sections (e.g. diameter).
Some values, e.g. length $L$ or pitch $t$, can be entered as absolute values or as dimensionless values in relation to the diameter $D$.
With the present version the screw clearance (leakage flow) is taken into consideration in the calculation therefore it is imperative to regard the following definitions:
As diameter $D$ the internal barrel diameter must be entered. This can only be set in the feed section.
All geometrical values which are needed in the input mask have to be determinable without knowing the internal barrel diameter, i.e. they must be determinable only by the geometry of the screw.
This is also valid for the input of the flight depth h as well as for the screw clearance $δ$ (delta)!
The only exceptions are the cylindrical and conical shearing sections. With both shearing sections the gap width from the shearing section root to the barrel surface must be entered.
