Flight switch section
There are two parallel flights in a flight switch section. The flight from the previous zone runs out at the end of the flight switch section. A second flight starts at the beginning of the flight switch section and continues to run after the flight switch section.
A flight switch section is used to force the solid bed to break up and thus increase the dispersive mixing of the plastic. The effect can be intensified by simultaneous compression in the channel height within the flight switch section.
Similar to a barrier zone, the flight switch section consists of an inflow, a main section and an outflow. The flight pitch of both flights is identical and remains constant throughout the entire flight switch section. Furthermore, in addition to the screw clearance, a reduction in the flight height can be specified separately for each flight, so that a run-in and run-out of the flights can be specified. In each of the three zones (inflow, main section, outflow), the channel depth of the two channels and the reduction in the flight height of both flights can be varied.
