Define hopper data

In REX and PSI, you have the option of defining the geometry of hoppers that are used in the simulation processes. The input of this data is necessary for the calculation of Solids conveying. If no data is specified, the calculation is performed with a circular central hopper opening and without feed aids.

Selecting the hopper geometry

You can specify the hopper geometry in two different forms:

* Circular geometry * Rectangular geometry

Depending on the requirements of your process and the physical conditions of the machine, you can choose between these two geometry options.

Circular geometry

If the hopper has a circular geometry, enter the diameter in millimetres. This is decisive for the volume and the speed at which the material can be fed into the extruder or machine.

  • Diameter

This option is often used for hoppers that are arranged symmetrically and centred above the screw conveyor.

Rectangular geometry

Alternatively, the funnel geometry can be defined as a rectangle. In this case, two parameters must be specified:

  • Length
  • Width
