The tribological data (coefficients of friction) of the material are entered in the ‘Tribology’ tab. The input is optional and is only required for the calculation of Grooved barrel extrusion.

• Cylinder friction coefficient $\mu_z$: Coefficient of friction between the plastic and the barrel
• Screw friction coefficient $\mu_s$: Coefficient of friction between the plastic and the screw
• Friction coefficient during melt film formation $\mu_{z1}$: Coefficient of friction when changing from solid friction to melt film friction (only required for limit speed orientated grooved bushing calculation). This value is difficult to determine. Calibration based on known grooved bushing processes is recommended.
• Internal coefficient of friction $\mu_i$: Coefficient of friction between the granules

However, determining the necessary friction coefficients is problematic and error-prone.
